Pepper and NAO at the city hall of the fifteenth district of Paris
Paris is one of the first cities in the world, the first one in France, to have acquired social robots for its inhabitants. The city hall of the fifteenth district of Paris have Just received two robots created by the SoftBank Robotics company, world leader of the humanoid robotics settled in the fifteenth, and integrating applications powered by the Hoomano company.
With cameras, sonars, but also microphones and speakers, Pepper and NAO have high level skills wich allow them to interact with their audience (visual and voice recognition) and to move with fluidity.
Pepper (120 cm high and 25 kg) is settled in the city hall 's entrance in order to welcome the visitors, guide them in the building and deliver information. It 's used to help civil servants in their irreplaceable job.
NAO (58 cm high and 5,3 kg) is set to be used in a more playfull function, at school, to help pupils to learn english and computer coding. Four schools have been selected to experiment these applications be/ore a massive development.
Pepper and NAO will evolve through the upcoming months in cooperation with SoftBank robotics, Hoomano and public and private partners (Paris-Ile-de-France région, Métropole du Grand Paris, Orange group, La Poste group, start-ups ... ) in order to implement emerging digital tools dedicated to public service.
