Netlife Robotics Deploys Pepper in a Hungarian Clinic to Screen Patients and Visitors
The coronavirus pandemic has affected the healthcare sector in many ways and has put a huge strain on the healthcare system. That is why as a response to the pandemic, our partners Netlife Robotics Kft in Hungary have developed a robotics solution with Pepper and deployed him at the private clinic Budai Magánorvosi Centrum, one of the most advanced clinics in Budapest.
Project Conception
Since the clinic is always focusing on paying attention to the needs of its clients and seeks to increase the quality of service provided. To elevate their customer service, they partnered up with Netlife Robotics to deploy Pepper, as the first robotic solution in response to the pandemic to be implemented in Hungary. As a contactless solution to help keep people safe from infection, Pepper greets visitors to the private clinic.
Solution
In order to keep patients safe during the global health crisis and minimize infection risks, Pepper pre-screens patients with a variety of 5 questions. With these questions, Pepper makes sure that the patient is not an at-risk client or that they have not been in contact with anyone that has been infected with COVID-19. Those who do not pose a risk of infection to others are allowed into the clinic, while those who do pose a risk or are infected are immediately suggested to contact their doctors.
Results
The project has been a critical success, receiving massive press coverage on local press, as well as on international sites like Forbes. Pepper even appeared on one of Hungary’s biggest TV channels TV2! According to Dr. Alexandra Pácz of the Budai Magánorvosi Centrum, “I think that 99%, maybe 100% of the patients welcomed this little robot. They liked to chat with it, even selfies were taken.” She also mentioned that Pepper has been a huge help in alleviating the repetitive and exhausting work involved with checking every visitor.
Pepper continues to work at the clinic and is still well-loved by Buda staff. He continues to pave the way for humanoid robotics in the healthcare sector, especially during the pandemic we face currently.
