SoftBank Robotics Launches Next-Generation Serving Robot “Servi Q” in Japan, Designed for Smooth, Reliable Operation in Compact Venues
Navigates Aisles as Narrow as 45 cm — the Narrowest in its Class—and Features an Industry-First Reversing Capability
SoftBank Robotics Corp. (HQ: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President & CEO: Fumihide Tomizawa; hereinafter “SoftBank Robotics”) today launched Servi Q in Japan, a next-generation serving robot jointly developed with Bear Robotics, Inc.
Servi Q will leverage its extensive global network to gradually roll out Servi Q across international markets, serving as the product’s exclusive distributor outside the United States and South Korea, where sales will continue to be handled by Bear Robotics, Inc. SoftBank Robotics and Bear Robotics will work together to expand Servi Q’s availability across global markets.

SoftBank Robotics has been offering serving robots since 2021, supporting deployments across a wide range of venues. Servi Q was purpose-built to address common challenges in real-world operating environments, including narrow aisles, limited room to turn, spills caused by tray vibration, and debris becoming caught in wheels.
At the heart of Servi Q is a simple idea: the robot should adapt to existing operating environments — not the other way around. Rather than requiring operators to modify their existing layouts to accommodate a robot, Servi Q is designed to fit into the spaces they already have.
With a body width of just 35 cm, Servi Q can navigate passages as narrow as 45 cm — the smallest minimum aisle width in the industry.* It also features an industry-first* reverse driving capability, enabling the robot to enter tight spaces between tables and chairs and back out when there is not enough room to turn around.
In aisles more than 100 cm wide, multiple Servi Q units can also pass each other, enabling a smooth and seamless multi-robot operation.
Servi Q is also designed for greater stability and reliability in everyday operations. Its suspension mechanism helps reduce tray vibration while moving, allowing food and beverages to be transported more steadily. Its wheel and caster design helps prevent food scraps, paper, hair and other debris from getting caught, reducing interruptions during operation.
Tray positions can be adjusted to suit different operational needs. Servi Q can be configured with one to three tray levels and supports a maximum total payload capacity of 30 kg.
Servi Q is also equipped with an 18.5-inch display for showing menus, promotions and advertisements, along with a separate front display that can show facial expressions and customized character designs.
SoftBank Robotics will initially sell Servi Q in Japan, where many operating environments have limited floor space and narrow aisles. By making serving robots easier to deploy in a wider range of environments, the company aims to support more natural collaboration between people and robots across restaurants, hotels, commercial facilities, nursing care facilities and other locations.

Six Key Features
1. Navigates aisles as narrow as 45 cm
With a body width of 35 cm, Servi Q can navigate an aisle as narrow as 45 cm. Its compact design makes it suitable for restaurants and other venues where tables, chairs and other fixtures leave limited space for robot movement.
2. Reverse driving in narrow or dead-end spaces
Using proprietary 360-degree LiDAR, Servi Q recognizes its surroundings and can reverse out of narrow aisles and dead ends when there is not enough room to turn around.
When multiple robots encounter one another, one unit can reverse to give way, enabling coordinated movement based on the operating environment.
3. Stable transport of food and beverages
Servi Q uses a suspension mechanism to reduce tray vibration while moving, helping transport food and beverages more steadily.
The robot is designed to reduce spills even during sudden stops or when crossing small obstacles such as cables. For example, it can transport six mugs of beer on a single tray while keeping the tray stable.
4. Wheel design that reduces debris buildup
Servi Q uses wheels and casters designed to reduce the buildup and entanglement of food scraps, paper, hair, and other debris.
A dedicated “Cleaning Mode” allows operators to remove debris from the wheels using a cleaning mat, helping simplify routine maintenance.
5. Adjustable tray configuration with up to 30 kg payload capacity
The heights of the upper and middle trays can be adjusted within a 6 cm range. Servi Q can be configured with one to three tray levels to suit the items being transported.
Each level supports up to 10 kg, with a maximum total payload capacity of 30 kg. In addition to serving and collecting food and beverages, Servi Q can transport tableware, supplies, and other items.
6. Digital signage and guest engagement
Servi Q is equipped with a front display for facial expressions and an 18.5-inch display that can show menus, promotions, advertisements, and other branded content.
Customized facial designs that reflect a venue’s character or brand identity can also be displayed. The robot can serve as a friendly presence in restaurants, a guide in hotels, or the face of the brand in corporate facilities.
SoftBank Robotics aims to develop robots that not only perform transport tasks, but also create new forms of interaction between people and robots.
